PLEASE NOTE: The Geeks recordings are remastered to CD from original rehearsal tapes recorded with two cheap mikes and a Teac 4-track tape recorder: the sound quality is poor. In the case of The Hitler Youth rehearsal recordings, only a portable cassette player with an in-built mike was used.  The Orphans were recorded live from the mixing desk at Hernando's Hideaway, East Perth, in 1978, and again the sound quality is basic.   The energy and atmosphere of the bands comes through nevertheless, and as an historical archive the CD is value indeed.  Be clear, though - if you can't tolerate sub-lo-fi recordings, this CD is not for you.

NOTE:  CD 1 comprises live material from 1978: the band's final gig at Hernando's Hideaway on August 15 1978, taped from the mixing desk; rehearsal tapes recorded towards the end of the band's life (thanks to Julie Kitto and her sister, Yvonne Walsh); and tracks recorded live at Purvisonic Studios in the first half of 1978.  The Orphans live recordings, remastered by Matt Weiland to excellent effect, are superior in sound quality to the Geeks recordings, for example, but are still rough and fall decidedly into the category of lo-fi.  Nevertheless, this CD gives a good representation of the live feel of the band.

CD 2, The Orphans Revisited, comprises later multi-track recordings of the entire Orphans original repertoire done by Ross Buncle in an attempt to present the songs with better production values, while remaining as faithful as possible to the original versions.
